Islands

The Caribbean is a vast sea containing over 30 sizable unique islands. Starting just south of Florida, in the United States to the northern coast of Venezuela, the Caribbean covers an area of over a million square miles.

The islands vary historically and culturally but share an incredibly wonderful climate. Year round temperatures in the upper 80's and low humidity driven by Caribbean trade winds makes any island a wonderful escape, any time of year.

Anguilla is a beach lovers secret hideaway. Not well known and somewhat difficult to reach, it is actually only 5 miles north of St. Martin. Anguila is a long and flat island without much vegetation or distinction. What it lacks in esthetics it more than makes up for in spectacular white beaches. There has not been much development on the island so choices are somewhat limited and accommodations tend to be very expensive. Air transportation is available from St. Martin and Puerto Rico and ferry service from Marigot in St. Martin is quick (in Caribbean terms), reliable and inexpensive.

Barbados is a charming island retaining much of its British parentages' formality, but with a Caribbean twist. Beaches are all public and dinner often requires a jacket, but the pace slows to that of the rest of the Caribbean. Villas in Barbados are fully staffed including a maid, cook, butler, laundress, and caretaker.

Grenada is most identified with the US military operation under President Ronald Regan that eradicated a corrupt leadership and ended a series of notorious governments. Today, Grenada is known for its sweet aroma that comes from the spices and fruits that grow in abundance on this volcanic Island. Unlike many other small islands, Grenada can be reached by jet from San Juan, Puerto Rico and London.
